Poker And Casino Games With Promotions
Casino's Promotions
More often than not, casino funbooks have coupons for free souvenirs. Usually they’re just chintzy keychains or caps. But not always. The Hard Rock casino gives out a funbook with a coupon for a free logo shot glass. It’s a pretty blue, very different than the usual shot glass, and sells for around $5 in the gift shop. The Sands, before it closed, gave away several million logo mugs. We know many people who stocked their coffee-cup cupboards (and their friends’ and neighbors’ and family’s cupboards as well) with Sands mugs. If your stay in Vegas is limited, you probably don’t have the time to run around hunting for the best free souvenirs.
Food and Drink Deals
Food and drink coupons abound—total freebies, two-for-ones, and other money-off discounts Casino - Craps Betting System. They show up regularly in the newspapers and the freebie magazines. Almost every funbook has at least one free-drink offer. Of course, you can get free drinks when you’re playing, but it’s nice to get them when you don’t want to play, like when you just want to sit at the bar or in the lounge and relax a bit. In recent years, the Holiday Inn Boardwalk in Las Vegas has had an especially good funbook if you’re looking for discounts and freebies in the food department. We’ve enjoyed free ice cream, free hamburgers, and free all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts.
Check Cashing
One of the strongest promotions in Las Vegas is related to the cashing of paychecks. Unfortunately, paycheck cashing is for locals only, and since we don’t live in Las Vegas, we haven’t been able to take advantage of it. Some of the “locals casinos” in the neighborhoods and outlying areas of town have excellent check-cashing incentives where the prizes can be very big: a Hawaiian vacation, a truck or car, even large monetary prizes. Some casinos will give you a bonus for cashing government or pension checks; you just have to check on the requirements. Other casinos will give you a little something if you cash traveler’s checks. Silver City, for example, a small casino on the Strip across the street from Circus Circus, will give you a free- drink coupon good at the bar just for cashing a traveler’s check. So whenever you cash a check, ask if you get something for it.
Locals and Senior Citizens
Some promotions, such as check cashing, are geared specifically for locals
Casino - Wheel Of Fortune. Locals can sometimes get discounted show tickets, especially in December when business is slowest. The daily newspapers are the source for bargains aimed at locals. Senior citizen discounts are not common in gambling areas, probably because the prices, especially for food, are already so cheap. One of the best I’ve seen comes from the Sheraton in Tunica, Miss., where on Mondays senior citizens eat free at the buffet.
Show and Activity Discounts
I really don’t like to pay for anything, but there are some things that you just can’t get free. For those we settle for discounts. The local newspapers and the freebie mags are the best places to find show discounts. If a show is struggling, the poker will often advertise two-for-one coupons. Around Christmas a lot of shows are dark, but if they’re not, the crowds are kind of thin. So the December holidays are a good time to find show discounts, some geared toward locals, others for anyone. Promotions Out of the Blue Sometimes an offer will show up in your mailbox and you’ll have no idea how it got there. Never go to Wet ‘n’ Wild in Vegas and pay full price. There are $2 discount coupons everywhere. Never pay a thing to get into the Imperial Palace Auto Collection; look for free-admission coupons in racks and funbooks and in front of the Imperial Palace, handed out by leafleteers.
